SNJO and Makoto Ozone "Jeunehomme"

Jeunehomme

In this minimalist design, we were trying to present the elegance, timelessness and gentle playfulness of what this big band orchestrated version evokes – now and then. Derek Clark’s monochrome photography was teamed up with no-frills lines and typefaces, making that album visually accessible too.

“Lay Down My Heart” email III

email design / html build / broadcast As the album “Lay Down My Heart” gains popularity – especially with radio DJs, we decided to push products and offer newsletter subscribers and customers some extra deals to raise the profile of the recording and generate peripheral sales.

A heart well placed

complete album packaging / concept + design Designing the packaging for Joe Locke‘s new Motéma release “Lay Down My Heart” gave me the opportunity to work with NY photographer Joseph Boggess for the first time. And another easy and inspiring creative collaboration with a musician and his label.

In The Spirit Of Duke

album packaging design based on a great piece of original artwork by Anmalo for the cover, this extended digipak (incl. slip case and booklet) completed the circle for me after having been involved in the concerts’ print and digital advertisement last year for the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra.

Wishing upon the star

This album was not on our radar. It was as an imminent release, but the design had never meant to be on our desk. But it came as it sometimes does: a close working relationship with the artist, simultaneous development of ideas and the fear of relinquishing control to an unknown party.

“Signing”

complete album packaging / concept + design When I was first asked to work on the visuals for this new recording, a title had not even been found and as we were discussing a stylistic approach to its presentation, the project’s name evolved in parallel. Repeatedly, the notion of communication, connection, people interacting in life’s […]

“VIA” by Storms/Nocturnes

complete album packaging / concept, photography, design I have been writing in more detail about working on this project beyond the design on both web and print. In fact, creating the artwork for this album was almost the smallest part of the bigger picture – yet an important one. We did want to achieve a […]

“nausicaa”

4-panel digipak design / photography This debut album by my friend, the incredible guitarist Kristian Borring, was a true service to the art and a labour of love and friendship. I have a genuine soft spot for Kristian’s music. His gentle, yet highly defined playing and his beautifully intriguing compositions on this recording made me […]

‘For The Love of You’ – The Joe Locke Group

album design / concept and design Once more we were excited to get the chance to work with a prolific label (E1 Entertainment, formerly Koch Records) and provide the design for another of Joe’s own solo projects. The Joe Locke Group is a hand selected quintet of extraordinary musicians, featuring the phenomenal Geoffrey Keezer (piano), Clarence […]

Joe Locke, David Hazeltine ‘MAS2’

album design + photography For starters, it was a very good experience collaborating with Sharp Nine, the label run by Marc Edelman. Marc wanted to release a 10 year reunion album of the 1999 recording “Mutual Admiration Society” with Joe Locke (vibes) and David Hazeltine (piano), supported by a great rhythm section: Billy Drummond (drums) […]

“Aurea”

album design + illustration When Geoffrey Keezer asked me to take care of the graphic design for his first ArtistShare project, I was immediately on board. Not just because I love his music and enjoy working with him. But because one of the tracks would be a re-arranged version of one of my all time […]
