Completing the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra‘s promotional concert package, the Duke Ellington series gets its concert programme, which will be handed out to audiences on the nights. We attempted a faded, aged look, continuing the theme of red and gold that was already used in the Marketing campaign.
The challenge with license free photography of deceased prominent artists is a common problem. The search for non-copyrighted Duke Ellington images that were available for general use proved once more a lengthy process, shared between SNJO Marketing Director Lindsay Robertson and myself. For the programme however, we decided to play it safe and use generic stock imagery.
Sadly – but as an understandable necessity – the programme also features a certain amount of third party advertisement, that isn’t always of a quality we would like, but provided by generous members of the regional commercial sector in support of the Orchestras annual concert and touring activity.
